Babu Story
Once upon a time...
Some twenty-odd years ago, a little girl was born. Her father, Chris Ellis (chrysalis) gave her the nickname Babu... and a fascination for butterflies. Butterflies from caterpillars? Babu was impressed! As she was to learn that oaks grow from acorns, and chicks from eggs. Life was wonderful, and Babu set about celebrating it.
Designs for life
When Babu's friends became pregnant and were at a loss to find anything suitably funky to wear, Babu decided to apply her lust for life to maternity clothing. The concept of stretch t-shirts and the phrase 'tall oaks from small acorns grow', seemed a match made in heaven. And thus our first t-shirt, and BABU as a business, was born.
Flying in the face of the often conservative, 'mumsy' image of maternity wear, BABU offers clothes that are a little more contemporary. Clothes that embrace, not hide, pregnancy. And do so without compromising on style. As we grow, so will the number of designs we offer. We're committed to bringing some of the UK's freshest designers into our stable. So stay tuned...
